As well as the long-established Scottish Youth Hostels Association, with its many modern and well-equipped hostels, Scotland has a range of budget accommodation, in both city and remote country locations. It’s a great way to meet fellow-travellers.
You’ll be amazed at the sophistication in some of Scotland’s hostels and bunkhouses. Economical they may be but standards are high – though that isn’t the point. The essence of this kind of accommodation is the opportunities it allows for meeting fellow-travellers, and for exchanging information on what’s cool, or even just what’s scenic. It’s probably the most sociable and relaxed way of finding out about Scotland.
