This scenic area abounds in red deer and birdlife. Hill and sea shore walks are on offer here or in the nearby Flow Country. Summer swimming is good from the sandy beaches. Take a boat trip for some birdwatching, sight-seeing and sea angling. Archaeological and historical remains can be seen and Brora is worth a visit. Visit Dunrobin Castle. Take a scenic rail journey to Thurso. Go gold panning at Baile an Or, near Kildonan, or join in a ceilidh in the local hotel any summer Saturday night. Highland Games are in August.
