Kirk Yetholm is a good hillwalking centre, being at the Northern end of the Pennine Way and on the route of the St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to HolyIsland. Lots of historic interest in the area - the "Gypsy Palace" cottage, the Border abbeys, Thirlestane Castle, Floors Castle and Mellerstain House. You can see the deer at Jedforest Park and country crafts at The Hirsel, Coldstream. June has the Yetholm Civic Festival, the Kelso Borders Show and Marches Ride. Shepherd Show is in October. July has Kelso Border ride via Yetholm.
