The capital of the Orkney Isles, Kirkwall is dominated by 12th century St. Magnus Cathedral. There are quiet sandy beaches nearby and much of historic interest to be seen throughout the islands - including Skara Brae, Maes Howe and the Ring of Brodgar. There are guided historical and nature walks. All British cliff nesting birds, including Puffins (June/July). Daily ferries to the islands.
