The park has a particularly long and wide beach of clean golden sand, bordered by grassy dunes and has been developed to provide additional amenities for visitors.
The dunes are wonderful places for finding a sunny and sheltered spot to read in, or sunbathe on a good day, or for games of hide and seek. There are 1700 metres of wooden walkways across the sands and streams, picnic areas with barbecues (bring your own charcoal) and a swing park with a fishing theme for children. Beautiful wild flowers grow on the beach in the summer.

On the coast east of the village of Balmedie 8 miles north of Aberdeen on the A90 to Peterhead and Fraserburgh. The park is well signed from the A90.
