The most northerly of Scotland's aquaria has several unique features. The most obvious of these features is the main tank, positioned right in the centre of the building and open to the sky.
This central tank contains more than 40,000 litres of seawater. It is the deepest tank in Scotland and one of the deepest in Europe. Because the tank has natural daylight, supplemented only by floodlights in the winter, this has allowed a wide range of seaweeds and kelp species to establish themselves naturally.
Audio visual theatre at frequent times throughout the day.
