The home of John Davidson, village souter (shoemaker), who inspired the character Souter Johnnie in Robert Burns' famous poem Tam o'Shanter. Life-sized stone figures of the Souter, Tam, the innkeeper and his wife are in the restored ale-house in the cottage garden. The thatched cottage, recently refurbished, contains period furniture, Burns relics and a reconstructed souter's workshop.
