Getting to Scotland From England, Wales and Ireland

Home > Travel > Getting Here > From England, Wales & Ireland

Coach
There are coach services to Scotland from all parts of the UK coach network, many running throughout the year and, in some cases, also overnight. Journey planning and booking is straightforward.

Car
Long-distance car journeys, like coaches, usually use the faster main trunk routes such as the A1 in the east or the M74 in the west.

Ferries
There are ferry links to Scotland’s Clyde coast and Galloway ports from Northern Ireland.

Trains
Rail travel offers a fast efficient cross-border service from England and Wales – journey time is as little as 4.5 hours from London to Edinburgh.

Air
Flying time from London to Edinburgh or Glasgow is around an hour and there are several airlines offering this service, as well as links from other English, Welsh and Irish airports.
