The Aberdeen & Grampian Highlands Coast

Home > Where to Go > Regions > Aberdeen & Grampian Highlands > Aberdeen & Grampian Highlands - See & Do > Coast

From St Cyrus on the edge of Grampian, via the turning point at Kinnaird Head and on to Findhorn on the Moray coast, the coastline of this area runs for more than 150 miles.

There are picturesque coastal communities as well as major ports like Fraserburgh and Peterhead, but it is the unspoilt, wild aspects of the coast which will impress. Dolphins, seabirds, rare plants, plus beaches reaching to the horizon; as well as cliffs of breathtaking scale and Scotland’s only mainland gannet colony.

See, and smell, traditional fish smoking and some of the finest sea produce sold over-the-counter at bargain prices. Admire the immaculate paintwork of traditional fishermen’s houses gable-end to the sea, or discover a choice of heritage-themed attractions and a unique aquarium.
