From Orkney in the North of Scotland to Galloway in the South West you'll discover malt whisky distilleries in some of the most delightful spots. The Hebridean Island of Islay, well known for its wildlife and wide beaches, is even more famous for its malt whisky. Here you'll find several distilleries, welcoming visitors, and each producing a highly distinctive individual malt. Another special area for whisky distilling is Speyside in the North East of Scotland. Here, among the glens of the Grampian hills a group of distillers have come together to create Scotland's Malt Whisky Trail, this is well signposted and includes eight distilleries and a cooperage.
Listed below are the whisky distilleries in Scotland that are open to the public on a regular basis. They all provide a tour of the distillery, usually offering a tasting, and will have a visitor centre and shop.
