Golf in Dumfries & Galloway

Home > Where to Go > Regions > Dumfries & Galloway > Dumfries and Galloway - Get active > Top Golf

With many superb courses in a scenic landscape Dumfries and Galloway is a wonderful area in which to enjoy a relaxed golfing holiday.

This is an area that favours relaxed golf and caters for those looking for more from their holiday than simply the trials of tee to green. Dumfries and Galloway is rich in history and natural beauty. Visually, it is a soft, green, placid place caught between the Solway Firth and the substantial Southern Uplands to the north.

There is little or no pressure on tee times here so you can unplug from the anxious rush to report to the starter’s box and simply appear at a course when you are good and ready. Another major boon on most of the 30 courses in the area is that you can nearly always get a game at the weekend.

Southerness, Dumfries, Moffat and Stranraer are arguably among the better known courses - but there are other gems: down by the sea at Port William or up in the hills at New Galloway. There are more moorland courses at Dalbeattie and Kirkcudbright, with the best of both worlds at little Colvend: a moorland course set by the sea.
