Fisheries

Home > Things to See and Do > Activities > Fishing in Scotland > Fisheries

Commercial put-and-take and coarse fisheries can be found throughout the country with the exception of the North West Highlands. Most are however from the Inverness area south.

A wide range of facilities are offered by the larger concerns, restaurants, tackle shops and even cabins and conference rooms.

There is no statutory close season for introduced fish and so the rainbow trout and its hybrids or brook trout can be fished for throughout the year if the operator wishes.

Fisheries vary in size from small ponds to fairly large lochs requiring boats to fish them effectively. Most of them contain trout weighing between 1 and 2lbs and some have specimen ponds containing trout up to 10lbs or more.
