Deepest Loch
Leading far into the hills behind Mallaig is Loch Morar. Over 305m deep, this is Britain’s deepest loch. It is said to have a monster even shyer and less frequently encountered than Nessie.

Strontian
Once well known for its lead mines, Strontian, on the road to Ardnamurchan, is unique amongst Scotland’s villages in having an element – Strontium – named after it. Nearby are the mossy oakwoods of the Ariundle Oakwood National Nature Reserve.
