Each of the Small Isles has its own personality, from the quiet pastoral air of Muck to the rugged wilderness of Rum. But they all have good ferry and cruise links from the mainland.



Caledonian MacBrayne link the islands from Mallaig. This is a passenger-only service and is non-reservable so you can simply turn up and buy a ticket. Cruises by Arisaig Marine also allow time ashore on the islands.

However you go, there is a good chance of seeing minke whale, whales, dolphins, or porpoise.
