Otters, bats, salmon and squirrels all feature in a new children's sculpture trail celebrating the wonderful wildlife around Doune Castle. It brings a novel dimension to a visit to this splendid 14th century castle.
To make the trail even more fun, the sculptures are all hiden at different points along the path beside the Ardoch burn to the River Teith, with special markers which give children clues as to what they are looking for. The markers have been specially designed so youngsters can make rubbings of them to take home as a memento.
Bob Tevendale, Historic Scotland Intrepretation Officer, said: "The environment around the castle is very special, wth lots of wonderful wildlife that people are not always aware of. The sculpture trail is a fun way to let people know about the creatures that live and feed in the water, on the land and in the skies above. We hope it will make a visit to the castle even more enjoyable."
