Only eight miles long and two miles across, with low hills and many superb sandy beaches, this Island is well known for its wildlife. One of the few places in Britain where choughs breed, it also boasts many rare and unusual wild flowers.
There is no shortage of things to do – good brown trout fishing, an interesting 18 holes links golf course and the well known Colonsay House Gardens. Just to the south, accessible at low tide is the Island of Oransay with its well preserved 14th century priory.
