Bass Rock This guano spattered rock rising 107m out of the sea is a conspicuous feature of the East Lothian horizon. Once a state prison, it is now home to one of the world’s largest gannet colonies. There are regular boat trips round the Bass from North Berwick.
Inchcolm Abbey Known as the ‘Iona of the East’ this beautiful 12th century abbey, on an island in the middle of the Firth of Forth is exceptionally well preserved. A ferry service to the island operates from South Queensferry.
