Home > Accommodation > Self-Catering and Holiday Cottages

The ultimate in go-as-you-please Scottish holidays, cottages and converted farm steadings, city-centre apartments, as well as large houses and castles can all be found. There is probably a pub or restaurant nearby – so cooking isn’t compulsory.

In Scotland the kind of holiday experience you can have in a self-catering establishment will depend on where it is. There’s a special romance in a hide-away holiday cottage or converted croft, say, out on a Hebridean island, where you pile the peat on the fire.

It’s different from the experience you get from opening the parcels of fine foods you’ve culled from a city delicatessen for an impromptu supper in your apartment. Yet these are only two aspects of self-catering in Scotland. And there’s everything in between, town and country, traditional and modern.
