Smoking in Public in Scotland

Home > About Scotland > Key Facts > Smoking

It is against the law to smoke in indoor public places including pubs, restaurants and cafés, airports and on most forms of public transport.

The smoke-free policy extends to enclosed public areas of hotels, guest houses, bed & breakfasts, inns & hostels including bars, lounges, restaurants and reception areas. Some establishments have dedicated bedrooms where smoking is allowed.
