Culbin Forest
An extraordinary pine forest stretching for 9 miles along the Moray Coast, Culbin is home to many rare and unusual plants and animals.  Superb beach, shingle bar and salt marshes.

Findhorn Bay Nature Reserve
This spectacular, almost landlocked, tidal basin is good for waders throughout the year, with large numbers of migrants passing through in the spring and autumn. Ospreys are often to be seen fishing here. Bird hide.

Fowlsheugh (RSPB)
Sea Cliffs/ Seabird colony at Fowlsheugh RSPB reserve
One of Scotland's largest seabird colonies, the cliffs of Fowlsheugh are packed with guillemots, razorbills, and kittiwakes between April and July. Evening boat trips from Stonehaven.

Glen Tanar National Nature Reserve (SNH)

The largest dune loch in Britain, this superb wetland, with four observation hides is an excellent place to see wintering geese and whooper swans, breeding ducks and waders, and rare migrants.

Sands of Forvie, Collieston, Aberdeenshire
A spectacular area of sand dunes, coastal heath and sea cliffs, with Britain's largest colony of breeding eider ducks and many geese and waders in winter. Visitor centre and observation hide.
