This fort, on the highest section of the wall, included a headquarters building, a well, granary and a bath house. From inscriptions it is known that the Hamian Archers, originally from Syria, were stationed here.

This is an amazing prehistoric site, with six stone circles, two cairns and numerous hut circles. Burial cists and traces of timber post poles have been found within some of the circles.

Ballochmyle Prehistoric Rock Carvings (HS)
Prehistoric rock carvings
This large and unusual group of cup-and-ring markings was only re-discovered in 1986. Dating from around 2500 BC they include cups with multiple rings, ringed stars, many plain cups, and three deer like animals.

Arbory Hill Fort
This well-preserved hill fort, c 500 BC, has two encircling earth ramparts and an inner stone walled enclosure with traces of houses. Superb views over Clydesdale.

Cow Castle Fort
This complex fort, of c 300 BC, with interconnecting ramparts was built during two main periods. Traces of several houses can be seen within the fort.
