Abercorn Kirk
An ancient Christian site, there has been a church here since the late 7th century. The present church dates from 16th century, its splendid Hopetoun Loft was fitted out in 1708. Fine 17th - 18th century gravestones.

Dunglass Collegiate Church (HS)
Dunglass Collegiate Church, East Lothian
Founded by Sir Alexander Hume in the mid 15th century. Three chaplains and four choirboys once delivered masses here for the founder's family. By the 18th century it had become a stable and barn.

Ettrick Kirk
Built on the site of an early 16th century church, the churchyard has many good 17th - 18th century gravestones. The writer James Hogg 'The Ettrick Shepherd' is buried here.

Jedburgh Abbey, Roxburghshire
A majestic building founded by David I in 1138. The Abbey church is almost complete. Award winning visitor centre.

Kelso Abbey (HS)
The imposing west gable and porch are virtually all that remains of one of the wealthiest abbeys in Scotland. Sacked by the English in the early 16th Century, it was dismantled after the Reformation.

Lauder Kirk
This handsome church was built in the late 17th century for the Duke of Lauderdale. Interesting gravestones and ruins of a watch-house, built after a body-snatching raid in 1830.

The chancel and apse of this lovely building are 15th century. The transepts and steeple were added in the 16th century.

St Marys Collegiate Church
St. Mary's Collegiate Church, Haddington, East Lothian
15th century church of Cathedral scale. Sacked in 1548 after the siege of Haddington. The ruined choir and transepts were restored in 1973.

Stobo Kirk
This delightful church was founded in 1127 and partially rebuilt in the 15th - 16th centuries. Fine medieval tombstones and many well carved 17th and 18th century gravestones.

Torphichen Preceptory (HS)
Tophichen Preceptory, West Lothian
Built between the late 12th and 15th centuries, the only Scottish seat of the Knights Hospitallers, a military religious order. The tower and transept are still intact. Fine gravestones.

There has been a church here since the 12th century, though the present building was built in 1781. Excellent 17th and 18th century gravestones, portraying costumed figures.
