Forth Rail Bridge
A wonder of the Victorian engineering world, this extraordinary steel bridge was built between 1882 and 1890. Almost 2 miles long, it expands by a metre between winter and summer.

Crichton Souterrain
The walls of this virtually intact earth-house include dressed stone of Roman origin. One of the roof lintels was also clearly used before, as carved on it is the emblem of a Roman legion.

Chesters Fort (HS)

These impressive lime kilns were built in the mid 19th century. The limestone was quarried nearby and coal to fire the kilns brought in by boat.
