Aberfeldy Bridge

The largest of General Wade's bridges, it was designed by William Adams and completed in 9 months in 1733. At that time this was the only bridge across the River Tay.

Tealing Souterrain (HS)

Once covered with stone slabs this earth house, was discovered in 1871. Among the finds were quern stones and pieces of Roman pottery. Next to the entrance is a stone with cup-and-ring markings.

Ardestie Souterrain (HS)

This roofless earth house, was discovered in 1949. Traces of four associated buildings were found nearby. In one of them there was part of a Roman amphora.

Carlungie Souterrain (HS)

|
This large earth house, was discovered in 1949. There were no traces of the roof, which was possibly made of timber. To the north and east of the passage are eight paved areas, probably the floors of individual huts.

Cossans Cross Slab (HS)

Traditionally known as St Orland's stone, this tall Pictish slab has a beautifully carved cross. On the reverse side are symbols and carvings of horsemen, hunting dogs and a boat.

Two impressive prehistoric forts occupying the summits of adjoining hills. The White Caterthun has a massive stone walled enclosure. The Brown Caterthun is defended by several encircling ramparts.

Dunfallandy Cross Slab (HS)

This magnificent 8th century, Pictish cross slab is to be found just past the Dunfallandy Hotel by Pitlochry. Intricately carved with symbols of animals and figures, the cross has survived in remarkably good condition.

Fowlis Wester Cross Slabs (HS)

Inside the church there are two splendid Pictish cross slabs. One with an unusual cross, and on the other side carvings of horsemen and a man leading a cow with a bell around its neck.

Dunkeld Bridge

Completed in 1809 this was one of Thomas Telford's finest bridges. Originally tolls were charged. These proved most unpopular and on several occasions the toll gates were pulled down and dumped in the river.
