Medieval church dating from 12th until 1785. Inside are tombstones of two Dutch merchants from Bremen. The stone for Segebad Detken, who died in 1573, records that he traded in Shetland for 52 years.
This church, built in 1788-1790, replaced a medieval 'steeple-kirk' with a round tower some 20m high, similar to that of Egilsay on Orkney. In the churchyard are several fine tombstones dating from the 17th and 18th centuries.
