A distinctive group of islands, the best know of which is Eileach an Naiomh. A monastery was founded here in 542AD and destroyed some 400 years later by Norsemen. Traces can still be seen including the beehive cells, chapel, herb garden and graveyard.
The largest of the Garvellachs is Garbh Eileach. It has two forts, and the most impressive cliffs of any of the Inner Hebrides.
