Great Cumbrae

An attractive island just off the Ayrshire coast Great Cumbrae has been popular destination for well over a hundred years. Life centres round the resort town of Millport with its sandy beaches. The most prominent building is the Garrison, it has recently been restored and includes a museum, library and coffee shop. Another prominent building is the Cathedral of the Isles, planned as theological college, it was consecrated in 1876 and is said to be the smallest cathedral in Britain.

There is no shortage of things to do. The Millport Golf Club’s 18 hole course offers some of the most stunning views of any course in Scotland. Cycling is another popular activity with the 12 mile coastal road being a major draw.
Frequent ferry crossing from Largs.
