Flannan Isles

This group of islands 21 miles west of Lewis, with the ruins of a c 6th century corbelled chapel, are best known for the unexplained disappearance of all three lighthouse keepers in December 1900. When the lighthouse relief tender reached the Flannan Isles on December 26th there was no trace of any of the men while a meal of cold meat, pickles and potatoes lay untouched on the kitchen table.
