These fascinating gardens next to the castle were laid out along the lines of a 17th century design by Robert Lorimer in 1890. There is a particularly fine topiary.

A beautiful recreation of a 17th century garden with raised rectangular beds and shell paths. It contains many unusual plants, a wide variety of traditional herbs, vegetables and an orchard with period fruit trees, all of which were available in 1600.
