The more sheltered of the two beaches this is the place where lobster fisherman keep their boats. It is also a good place to find shells. The prominent building at its northern end was once the school. It closed in 1992. Further back down the road to Barra you will see some of the remains of the Catalina flying boat that crashed here on the 12th of May 1944. There is a monument to three crew members who were killed and the six who survived..
