The centrepiece of this spectacular property is the Great Garden, originally laid out in 1675 by Sir Alexander Seton, 1st Baronet of Pitmedden. Three of the elaborate formal parterres of the 17th century have been carefully recreated from designs possibly used in the gardens at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh, in 1647.
