House of Dun Garden (NTS)

Montrose

This beautiful Georgian house overlooking the Montrose Basin was designed and built by William Adam in 1730 for David Erskine, Lord Dun. Once the home of Lady Augusta Kennedy-Erskine, the daughter of King William IV and the actress Mrs Jordan, the house contains royal mementos of that period and many examples of Lady Augusta's woolwork and embroidery. There is a collection of family portraits, furniture and porcelain.The courtyard buildings include a gamekeeper's shed, gardener's bothy and a handloom weaving workshop. Victorian walled garden, woodland and waterside walks and magnificent parkland trees.

Opening Times

House, shop and restaurant: April, May, June and September, Wednesday – Sunday 12.30pm – 5.30pm. July and August, daily 11.30am – 5.30pm.
