Kilchurn Castle (HS)

Near Dalmally

This spectacular castle on a narrow spit of land, once an island, at the head of Loch Awe was built in about 1450 by Sir Colin Campbell of Glenorchy. The castle was greatly enlarged in 1693 when a barracks for 200 soldiers was built there.Regular sailings to Kilchurn by steamer from Loch Awe Pier.
