Sanda Lighthouse

One of Scotland’s most unusual lighthouses, completed 1850, it is built on the summit of Ship Rock to the south of the island of Sanda, and is reached by a system of external stairs built on to the cliff face. Until the lighthouse was built, this southern tip of the Mull of Kintyre was the site of many shipwrecks, in part because the main Mull of Kintyre light was obscured from the east. There are boat trips to the island from Campbeltown.
