New Abbey Cornmill (HS)

By Dumfries

The corn mill of New Abbey dates from the 18th century. It was probably built on the site of a mill belonging to the monks of nearby Sweetheart Abbey.
Carefully restored in the 1970s, this water-powered mill is in full working order. Regular demonstrations are given for visitors throughout the summer. A video of the ‘Miller's Tale' is on show inside the mill.

Opening Times

April to September, Monday – Sunday 9.30am 6.30pm. October to March, Saturday – Wednesday 9.30am - 4.30pm. Closed Thursdays and Fridays.
