Balmoral Hotel
This prominent Edinburgh landmark, known until the 1980s as the North British Hotel, was a traditional railway hotel. It was built in 1895 by the North British Railway Company next to their Waverley Station. The hotel’s clock is traditionally set 3 minutes fast in order that people heading for the station get to their train on time. The hotel once had its own bakery and butchery and even blended its own whisky.
