Greyfriars Bobby Statue

Bobby was a Skye terrier who belonged to John Gray – a night watchman with Edinburgh City Police. John died in 1858 and was buried in Greyfriars Kirkyard. Bobby is said to have spent the next 14 years guarding his master’s grave until he himself died in 1872. He is buried just inside the churchyard, with his grave marked by a red granite stone.
