Royal High School
Built for the Royal High School, Edinburgh’s oldest school, and completed in 1829, these classical buildings hardly look like a school. They were vacated in 1968 when the school moved to more modern and spacious premises in Barnton to the west of the city. It was suggested that the new Scottish Parliament might be located here but the buildings proved to be too small.
