Tartan Weaving Mill

Royal Mile

This historic building constructed in 1851 was for many years the principal reservoir of the city of Edinburgh. It held 1.7 million gallons. There had been a reservoir here since 1681 when Peter Brusche, a German engineer, was commissioned ‘to supply the city with water in a leaden pie’ from Comiston.
