Inchkeith Lighthouse

Though a lighthouse was built on Inchkeith as early as 1804, the island’s strategic position in the centre of the Firth estuary off Edinburgh meant that its history goes much further back. It was a place of quarantine by the 15th century, later garrisoned and fortified, then further strengthened in two world wars.
