Ardnamurchan Lighthouse and Visitor Centre

Kilchoan, Acharacle

Standing on mainland Britain’s most westerly point, this 36m (117ft) high lighthouse was built in 1849 and is the only one in the world to be designed in the Egyptian style. Open to the public, its engine room and workshop, including the fog horn have been beautifully restored. There is also a café and shop.
