The Lighthouse - Scotland's Centre for Architecture and Design. Opened as the centrepiece of the 1999 Year of Architecture and Design, The Lighthouse is one of the largest temporary exhibition venues for architecture and design in Europe.

Housed in the former Herald building designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh it includes The Mackintosh Interpretation Centre, a permanent exhibition space devoted to the work of Glasgow's most famous architect-designer.

Directions

From Edinburgh follow the M8 and signs for the city centre. Enter the city via junction 19, heading onto Bothwell Street. At the end of Bothwell Street turn left onto Hope Street. Take the second right onto West George Street and then the second right onto West Nile Street. West Nile Street leads onto Mitchell Street, where The Lighthouse is clearly visible.
