There has been a church here since the 12th century, though the present building was built in 1781. Excellent 17th and 18th century gravestones, portraying costumed figures.

Pathhead, Midlothian, EH37
The walls of this virtually intact earth-house include dressed stone of Roman origin. One of the roof lintels was also clearly used before, as carved on it is the emblem of a Roman legion.

These impressive lime kilns were built in the mid 19th century. The limestone was quarried nearby and coal to fire the kilns brought in by boat.

Built in the 1440's and massively strengthened in the 16th century as an artillery fortress, Blackness has been a royal residence, prison and armaments depot.

Historic castle, dating back to 1846. The castle has been recently restored and is now a family home.

Perhaps the most beautiful of all the Border Abbeys. The ruins are remarkably complete and include an exquisite barrel vaulted chapter house.

This attractive 19th century country church was built on a medieval Christian site. Interesting stained glass windows with scenes from the 1914 - 18 war. Remarkable gravestones.
Torphichen, West Lothian, Scotland, UK
Built between the late 12th and 15th centuries, the only Scottish seat of the Knights Hospitallers, a military religious order. The tower and transept are still intact. Fine gravestones.
Roslin, Midlothian, EH25 9PU
Rosslyn Chapel, built in 1446, is unique. Its varied and symbolic carvings will interest Templars and Freemasons as well as historians and those interested in Myths.
Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland, UK
15th century church of Cathedral scale. Sacked in 1548 after the siege of Haddington. The ruined choir and transepts were restored in 1973.
