Stoer Head Lighthouse
The keepers of this lighthouse, built in 1870, some 12 miles by single track road from Lochinver were relatively self sufficient. You can still see the ruins of their cow shed, byre, and pig house. The lighthouse keepers’ cottages have been restored and converted to self-catering accommodation managed by the National Trust of Scotland. From the car park there is superb coastal walk out to the extraordinary 197ft /60m high stac of the Old Man of Stoer.
