Noltland Castle (HS)
Near Pierowall, Westray
With a fine ruined Z-plan tower, this impressive castle was built between 1560 and 1574 by Gilbert Balfour, from Fife. It has twin towers and an extraordinary number of gun-loops.

Mid-June to September, Monday to Sunday 9.30am to 6.30pm.
