Noup Head Lighthouse

This 1898 lighthouse, built at the edge of spectacular 79m (260ft) high cliffs on the Island of Westray, was the first to use mercury as flotation for the revolving mechanism. The cliffs hold Orkney’s largest seabird colony. There is an excellent circular walk of about 4 miles that includes the lighthouse and the cliffs.
