Skara Brae Prehistoric Village (HS)

Stromness

The best preserved prehistoric village in northern Europe, with eight dwellings linked by low alleyways. The beautifully constructed houses have stone beds, dressers, seats and boxes of provisions and a hearth where dried heather, bracken and seaweed was burned. A replica house has been created next to the site. Many original artefacts found at Skara Brae are on display in the visitor centre. Café and shop.
