Butt of Lewis Lighthouse

Said to be the windiest place in the UK, it was a seriously isolated spot in 1862 when the tall, 37m (12 ft) red brick lighthouse was built. All building material had to be shipped in and landed on the nearby sandy beach of Port Stoth.
