Flannan Isles Lighthouse
The Flannans are seven uninhabited rocky islets, sometimes called The Seven Hunters. They are about 20 miles WNW of Gallan Head on Lewis. The lighthouse here – lit in 1899, with its shore station at Breascleit on Lewis - is best known for the mysterious disappearance of its three keepers, some time on the 15th December 1900 according to the last log entry. The seamen from the service vessel, arriving on the 26th, found everything normal within the lighthouse itself, though the stores landing area had some storm damage.
