Monach Lighthouse

This tall, 41m (133 ft) unpainted brick, lighthouse was built in 1864 on the island of Shillay, the westernmost of five now uninhabited islands to the west of North Uist. Originally known as Heisker, the islands are a National Nature Reserve and home of one of the world’s largest colonies of grey seals.
